Descriptions and personalities of our breedsNote: Number of eggs estimated to be produced annually is for a first year layer only. Second and third year layers produce many fewer eggs and you can probably forget about their egg laying ability after that. Commercial growers sell all their birds after their first year of laying so they don't have the expense of carrying the hens through 3 to 4 months of moulting until they start laying again.
